Privacy Policy
Effective date: 1 February 2026
1. Who We Are
putty-ssh.org is a community documentation website for PuTTY and its companion tools. References to "we", "us", or "our" in this policy refer to the operators of putty-ssh.org.
2. Information We Collect
We collect minimal data. Specifically:
- Analytics data — page views, referrer, country, browser type, and device type via Vercel Analytics. This data is aggregated and does not identify individual visitors.
- Contact form submissions — if you use the contact form, your name, email address, and message are transmitted to a third-party form processor (Formspree). We retain submitted messages for as long as necessary to respond.
- Server logs — our hosting provider (Vercel) automatically records standard access logs including IP address, timestamps, and requested URLs for security and infrastructure purposes. These logs are retained per Vercel's own data retention policy.
3. How We Use Your Information
- To understand which content is most useful to readers (analytics).
- To respond to questions and corrections submitted via the contact form.
- To maintain the security and availability of this website.
We do not sell, rent, or share personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.
4. Cookies
This site does not set advertising or tracking cookies. Vercel Analytics operates without cookies in its default configuration. The contact form provider (Formspree) may set a session cookie solely for form submission spam-prevention.
5. Third-Party Services
- Vercel — hosting and analytics. See Vercel's privacy policy at vercel.com/legal/privacy-policy.
- Formspree — contact form processing. See Formspree's privacy policy at formspree.io/legal/privacy-policy.
6. Data Retention
Aggregated analytics data is retained indefinitely in anonymised form. Contact form messages are retained for up to 24 months and then deleted. Server logs are retained per our hosting provider's schedule (typically 30 days).
7. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction you may have rights to access, correct, or request deletion of personal data we hold about you. To exercise these rights, contact us via the contact page.
Because we collect very little personal data and do not use cookies for tracking, most visitors will have no personal data to retrieve or delete beyond any contact form submissions they have made.
8. Children's Privacy
This site is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the effective date above. Continued use of this site after any change constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
10. Contact
